The Lighting Controller

If I wanted to move my 512 controller further away from my computer, is there a limit of the length before I get delays in my response from computer to controller. I am not looking at any further than 10 or 15 feet.

Also, can I use a usb extender or should I buy a longer cord with the usb on one side and the other connecter for the controller on the other side.

Officially, max length is 16 feet: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Serial_Bus (search word "Cabling")

Usb extender should not help for bigger distance.
