The Lighting Controller

I must have a setting wrong or something, but my lights are shining right throug objects in the 3D view. Hardly giving me a realistic look at how this will be in real life.

What am I doing wrong? See attached file.

Sorry but it is not possible with our 3D view to block a beam with a 3D object.
