Pitch black wall textures

Postby LightningFM » 03 November 2018, 18:00

Hello Support,
I am unable to display wall textures as desired in 3DView version 5.1.0 64Bits (build 180912) using Windows 10.

I tried changing wall textures to simple black images, however, the look is still the default light grey. I next tried various images that have black details and it looks like walls no longer display black nicely.

In previous versions, it was possible to change wall textures with black images to achieve a "dark room" effect.
It seems that to achieve a similar effect I am forced to use the compatibility mode.
Is there any other way to workaround this?

I see that something similar happens with 3DView objects: if I remove their texture, I can still clearly see them in the light grey. However, changing their "base colour" with Object Settings to black fix the problem. Is it possible to modify walls "base colour", not necessarily from the software normal interface? ;)

Thanks and regards

Sure, sorry if the previous post wasn't clear enough.

My goal is to have a 100% black environment in the 3DView; to achieve this I usually:
- set "Brightness" in Stage Settings at the lowest possible
- set fixture RGB color to 0, 0, 0.
- set object RGB color to 0, 0, 0.
- change object textures with a black picture
- change wall textures in Stage settings with black pictures

Despite the texture change, walls appear grey (left side of the picture).
To archive my initial goal (right side of the picture) I found the workaround of using a picture_panel with its colour settings at 0, 0, 0 to cover the actual walls.

Understood.
This is due to the new lighting mode of the new 3D engine.
This is unfortunately beyond our control.

We propose a new option to change the color of the walls.
