Crashing on Sonoma

Post by lockhap »

Over the last few weeks, I have noticed the software crashing more often, once a week, while running a show. There is no activity other than the lights on when the software crashes. I move to Sonoma about 6 weeks ago, and it seemed pretty stable. Recently I updated to the latest version and then I noticed an increase in the number of times that the application crashed.

You updated to the latest version of macOS or TheLightingController ?
Please send us the crash reports and, if possible, send us your light show and tell us how to reproduce the crash.

I updated both as stated in my original post. I have found the issue to be the listener. The only time it crashes is when I have the Network External App enabled. I have tried updating the IP Address and it causes an error as soon as it boots up. I have had to disable this option to avoid the crashing, but use this to control the app remotely.

I installed the fix attached and activate the network listener. I connected to ShowXPress form Companion and let the software run overnight. I logged into the computer this morning to find the software had crashed again. Attached is the Crash Report.

So the last crash was only with the "External App" enabled(Checked). I have disabled the Companion connection and when showXpress crashed, the Companion computer was not even on. This seems to still be an issue with the "External App' option checked. The crash report that I attached was from opening showXpress with nothing connecting to it and leaving the computer on for hours.

Thank you for this information.
We will try to reproduce and look at what could cause this.

In the next fix file (9.3.14), we updated some code and added a "Do not use WebSocket" option in the network preferences.
Please try with this file (when available) and with the "Do not use WebSocket" option checked.
