What if you change the strobe channel into a shutter channel?
The "lamp on" function will be not visible when your R,G, and B channels are set to "0".

Is it possible to use a USB to Serial interface so you can still use the Old Box with version V6?

This normally works with other hardware on PC's without a RS232 port.
