Yes, and neither, checking the "no sound" check box or setting the volume fader all the way down work...All clips still play audio... BUG in ver 7 software??\

while this sounds like an interesting concept I can't visualize how you are using the mask to then edit the other items (leaving the mask items deselected in the scene you are working on...) or are you saying this mask stays on to activate the items that are not effected by the scene you are editing ...
