Noticed after renaming a button I had to re-update my macros...
I wouldn't have noticed this if it hadn't been the focus for my moving heads... Is this normal procedure after renaming a button? Windows 7 pro 64 , SX version 7.23
Thanks, Earl
Button renaming omits button from Macro
Re: Button renaming omits button from Macro
We made a small test with only one page, one scene button and one macro button, and it works.
Are you able to reproduce this problem with a new lightshow, like ours ?

Mine did it too a couple weeks ago before, but I thought it was normal actions. I just remembered to reset my macro if i renamed a button.
Re: Button renaming omits button from Macro
May be the problem comes when the lightshow is complex (?)
We keep this in mind, until somebody can easily reproduce this problem.

Are Macros name based?
Re: Button renaming omits button from Macro
Earl messaged me on FB about this and I have a complex lightshow imported from 5, to 6, to 7 and I have do have this problem. My long time solution is not to rename buttons, or change the to faders or any other reconfiguration. If I want to change a button that is called by Macros, I load the button/scene again, do whatever modifications I wish, hit the macro that calls the old button, change the old button to the new button, update the macro, and delete the old button.
This problem may stem from an improvement I asked for a few years back, that Support did for me, by which Macros can recall modification settings of buttons. i,e, I only needed one fader/preset button and could Macro whatever settings I want from the button. But it maeks for a real headache if I change the number of presets on the button, then the Macro doesn't know what to do. So it ignores the button that has been modified.
I don't know of an easy solution except the workaround I do when tinkering with buttons called by Macros. And the last major change in button features I did took me creating another page with the changed buttons and a week going through all my Macros and updating them to the new buttons.

Re: Button renaming omits button from Macro
When you rename a button, the software checks if this button is present in all existing Macros, and if yes, it updates the Macro with the new button's name.
