UPDATE: I found auto/manual BPM under properties of the scene on the timeline, but for some reason auto BPM is greyed out and not selectable.

Did you put a check mark next to "On/Off" (sometimes it takes a second or two appear.) You will also need to make sure you have some audio input, whether it be a laptop mic, external mic or the sound fed back into your computer. If you have the lines bouncing, from audio, then your auto bpm should be working.

Auto BPM is not implemented on MacOS. You can use Manual BPM.

gotcha! I'm testing it out right now against a song that is 119 bpm, because I want it to blink on beat, I made a 2 step scene, light on and light off, then made the bpm 238 (double), and it is essentially working, except it doesn't seem to be consistent, sometimes it jumps quickly or lags, which in turn makes it a little off beat. Any thoughts about that?

Do you also see this problem in the "DMX bargraph" ?

What I'm trying to do is a little different than most have discussed. I am wanting to have my lights blink to the beat of live band music primarily. My Obey 4 controller had a sound button that could be pushed in order to engage a built-in mic as the light trigger. How would I accomplish this with ShowExpress and the Express 512 on a MAC? Is it doable?

Sorry but "Auto BPM" is not implemented on MacOS.

OK, so on the Chauvet Slimpar 64s, I could set them in sound triggering mode via DMX addressing and then use the individual sensitivity knobs on each light? This was one of the things I loved about my OBEY4 controller. Probably wouldn't have invested in the 512 and just stuck with the OBEY4 had I known it wouldn't auto bpm on my MAC. Tough to get the BPM for each song of a live band with a huge set list. I don't clearly understand the Different Pulse modes of the slimpar 64s but do understand the sound triggering mode, I think. Can't get the lights to strobe in sound triggering mode though. I could with the OBEY4 :(
