[El Capitan] V8 Crash [fixed]

Postby Bonifacedj » 10 September 2016, 17:27

Activated V8 fours ours ago when i arrived at the club where i'm resident DJ.
Did some tests as usual, everything worked fine.

30 minutes ago V8 crashed while i was doing nothing.
I'm getting worried because last weekend the same happened. After more or less 4 ours, during dinner at a wedding party, V8 crashed. It didn't crash a second time though last weekend during 5 more ours of active playing with it while the dance party was going on.

but now V8 crashed again, just when the couple came in and my scanners where pointed at them...
What's causing V8 to crash?
I hope somebody can find a trace in my light-show > V8 lightshow Faculty Club sept. 10 (Dropbox).

Are you using a Mac? If so, did you apply the latest fix? viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4528

@Bob_be: yep, i'm on a Mac with latest OS X and latest 1.8.15.
I was thinking why it took so long, really ours, before the crash happens, while i'm actually doing nothing with the lightshow during dinner.
So i set 'turn screen to sleep after...' to 'never. Before i had set it to '3 our's'.
Who know's.

First dance is close now.
I hope not having a crash in the next coming 4,5 ours.
An our ago I've restarted the Mac, unplugged the three controllers also and back in.
So far so good now.
Thanks for replying.

You need to apply the "fix" 8.1.21 (8.1.22 will work too). Scroll down the page till you see the link for that "fix" version. viewtopic.php?f=2&t=4528

Here is how you install it. viewtopic.php?f=85&t=3438

Good luck.

@Bob_be: thanks.
gonna do it right away since the wedding party is finished here now (4 AM).
Had two more crashes in the first 30 minutes, so i switched back to my third Apple laptop, set ready to take over with version 7 in emergency cases like now. Unplugged the second APC mini and the novation launchpad. Very stressful with 250 guests partying, but didn't taken longer then an minute.

At 2 AM, while DJ'ing and the first ambiance wave over, i switched back to my second Apple laptop, with V8 and a lightshow backup from 10 day's ago. Had no crashes from 2 AM till now.

Hope 8.1.21 will fix this.
thanks again for replying and the links.

MacOS - El Capitan - crash (very difficult to reproduce) fixed

I was a 'victim' too. :)
Noticed this for weeks already, but was to vaguely to report i thought. Also to complicated with my three midi controllers.
I will update to 8.1.22 right away.
